Sometimes we need a nudge our creativity. Because sometimes it’s hard to come with a new projects, new ways of seeing the world.
I think with this I speak for more than just myself.
I needed that too.
One day I’ve stumbled on a video about street photography. Did not pay much attention to it but in the end it got me curious.
Who is this guy? What are his sources and experiences he is sharing so profoundly in his videos?
So naturally I went and checked his channel.
His name is Brian Lloyd Duckett, with a little googling you can find his YT channel.
So that lead to buying 2 of his books. One has a name 52 assignments.
At that time I was packing my stuff to leave for Gran Canaria (if you haven’t check the previous post). So I’ve picked up the books after I got back.
I don’t always agree about what he is saying in the second book I’m reading. But the 52 assignments pumped up my curiosity.
The assignment I gave myself now is that I’ll undergo one assignment weekly.
From Wednesday to Wednesday I’ll shoot pictures and on Saturday I’ll post the results here.
Maybe there will be some modifications down the way as I go through the book. I don’t have crystal ball.
But the goal is to keep the 7 day consistency with the Sunday release.
With that in mind. Here is the first assignment. And I don’t know how in London but here in Prague it was kind of difficult to find the subjects for all these photographs. Hopefully the next one would be a little bit easier.
I hope that the author of the book won’t mind me sharing a bit of it here and there (if yes please contact me I’ll take the post down). I think it was a great idea to make the book in this format and size.
I can imagine that it also took a lot of work to assemble all of the assignments. Hence the “free advertisements” here.
In my opinion the book is great, functions as a journal and provider of assignments.
There are 52 of them so you have a lot to do in one year.
Without further ado, here is how the “hunt” went.
Sign of times
Series of 6-12 images of signs with context to the street or place the photograph was taken at
